1. Which USDA NASS publication supplies the prices-received and prices-paid indices?
B. Agricultural Prices
Monthly Agricultural Prices report.
Agricultural Statistics System, Census & Official Statistics · Agricultural prices, wages and market arrival statistics
2. Two items have base-period expenditure shares of 0.4 and 0.6 and price relatives of 1.10 and 1.30. What is the Laspeyres price index computed as a weighted mean of relatives?
B. 122.00
With base expenditure shares as weights, the weighted arithmetic mean of relatives equals the aggregative Laspeyres: 0.4 x 1.10 + 0.6 x 1.30 = 0.44 + 0.78 = 1.22, so 122. 120 is the unweighted mean; 119.58 is the unweighted geometric mean sqrt(1.10 x 1.30) x 100.

3. Which EU regulation governs integrated farm statistics?
D. Regulation (EU) 2018/1091
It covers farm structure surveys and the 2020 census.
Agricultural Statistics System, Census & Official Statistics · Other national systems: USDA NASS, Eurostat and national statistical offices
4. Two items both cost 10 in period 0. In period 1 one costs 15 and the other 5; in period 2 both cost 10 again. What is the chained Carli index for period 2 (period 0 = 100)?
C. 133.33
Link 1 = (1.5 + 0.5)/2 = 1.00; link 2 = (10/15 + 10/5)/2 = (0.6667 + 2)/2 = 1.3333. Chained = 133.33, although prices are back where they started: this is chain drift. A chained Jevons index would give exactly 100.00 here, since sqrt(1.5 x 0.5) x sqrt(0.667 x 2) = 1.

5. Why does most farm income appear in the national accounts as mixed income rather than as compensation of employees or operating surplus?
B. Family farms are unincorporated; labour and capital returns mix
Mixed income is the balancing item of unincorporated household enterprises, whose surplus rewards both the family's own labour and its capital and cannot be split. It has nothing to do with labour law or price valuation.
