1. A country has completed a PVS Evaluation and now wants a costed strategic plan showing what it needs to reach its chosen levels of advancement. Which stage of the PVS Pathway provides this?

  1. PVS Orientation training
  2. PVS-IHR Bridging Workshop
  3. Annual status reconfirmation
  4. PVS Gap Analysis
Answer and working

D. PVS Gap Analysis

The Gap Analysis takes the Evaluation's findings and the country's own priorities and produces a costed plan and budget. Orientation trains national staff before the Evaluation; the PVS-IHR workshop joins animal and human health services; annual reconfirmation belongs to official disease status, not the PVS Pathway.

  4. Movement of live animals
Answer and working

D. Movement of live animals

Movement of animals, often while incubating infection, and the markets and vehicles that go with it is the main route between herds; that is why movement control is the first emergency measure. Wind, wild birds and water matter for particular diseases but are not the general main route.
