2026 pattern (from the agribusiness track's verified row): prelims 100 questions/125 marks/80 minutes; mains 150 questions/200 marks/125 minutes; only Professional Knowledge counts for merit.
Eligibility for AFO has included four-year degrees in dairy science and dairy technology (secondary; the 2026 IBPS PDF could not be opened from this session). Bank AFOs appraise dairy loans, so the dairy economics and project subjects matter here.

1. Most of the world's dairy farmers keep how many milking animals?
B. One to a handful of animals on smallholdings
Smallholders with one to a few animals make up most dairy farmers worldwide, especially in South Asia, East Africa and South-East Asia, even though large farms produce a big share of milk in some regions.

2. Which of these is a zebu dairy breed of South Asia?
A. Sahiwal
Sahiwal, Gir, Red Sindhi and Tharparkar are zebu dairy breeds; the others are taurine European breeds.

3. Two sites are scored on milk supply, water, effluent route and land cost with weights 0.4, 0.3, 0.2 and 0.1. Site X scores 8, 6, 7 and 5; site Y scores 6, 9, 6 and 8. Which site has the higher weighted score?
D. Site Y, with 7.1 against 6.9
X = 0.4×8 + 0.3×6 + 0.2×7 + 0.1×5 = 6.9; Y = 0.4×6 + 0.3×9 + 0.2×6 + 0.1×8 = 7.1, so Y is preferred. Reading the unweighted totals (26 and 29) ignores the weights the planners chose, and Y wins on those too.

4. A cow's annual costs are feed 42,000, labour 15,000, veterinary and breeding 2,500, depreciation and interest 7,500 and other items 1,000 currency units. Dung is valued at 3,000 and the calf at 5,000. She gives 3,000 litres in the year. What is the net cost of milk per litre?
A. 20.00 per litre
Total cost = 42,000 + 15,000 + 2,500 + 7,500 + 1,000 = 68,000. By-product credit = 3,000 + 5,000 = 8,000. Net cost = 60,000 ÷ 3,000 = 20.00 per litre. 22.67 ignores the by-product credit; 21.67 credits only the dung; 25.33 adds the by-products to cost instead of subtracting them.

5. A bulk milk cooler has annual fixed costs of 120,000 and running costs of 0.30 per litre. It handles 1,000 litres a day all year. What is the chilling cost per litre?
C. 0.63
Fixed cost per litre = 120,000 / (1,000 x 365) = 0.33; total = 0.33 + 0.30 = 0.63. 0.33 omits the running cost; 0.30 omits the fixed cost; 120.30 divides the fixed cost by daily rather than annual litres.
