Do this: Weed those gaps now, since bare soil that grows weeds is worse than bare soil alone.
If you see: Healthy-looking green leaves and a full-sized plant, but capsules that are few, small or poorly filled at harvest.
It likely means: Usually a real moisture shortage right before or during flowering, or an imbalanced fertiliser programme favouring leafy growth over capsule fill.
Do this: Review whether the crop had adequate moisture right before and during flowering, the two windows that most affect final yield.
Sesame's real economic case is genuinely different from a crop grown purely for top yield: much of its own real value comes from making hot, dry, marginal land productive at a genuinely lower input cost, while still reaching a real, high-value cash-crop market most feed-dominated crops in this library cannot.
Growing the crop is only part of the job. The last part is knowing what a normal harvest looks like, and knowing what your seed is worth before you agree a price with anybody.
